IN SHREE GIRIDHAR DHAM & JIVA INSTITUTE, VRINDAVAN
Celebrate Gopashtami with us at Shree Giridhar Dham. Following morning prayers, we will conduct puja to our neighbouring cows and feed them. It is a sweet ritual to celebrate the auspicious day when Nanda Maharaj sent Sri Krishna for the first time to herd the cows.
It is said that Nanda Maharaj had nine lakh cows and Lord Shri Krishna knew all their names. Due to his affection for cows, Krishna is also called Gopal or Govind. He used to apply gauraj tilak on his forehead. He showed his affection for gau seva through his words and pastimes. In this way, Krishna and Balaram are the symbols of cow protection. In Hindu culture, cows are considered mothers.
The main aim of Gopastami is to protect cows and provide service to them. We should always try to provide a safe, loving and caring environment to cows, as they are the favourite Krishna. It is said that in places where cow seva is done, Lord Hari uses it to provide infinite grace.
